Railcard is a shambles!

So i brought a railcard sometime last week, but as it came through the post i found out i can only use it on certain off peak trains, this is bloody annoying as when i commute to work, its gonna be peak time!

Changing Theme

I decided to change the theme of the site – The older theme looked too cheap and tacky.. Also looked like some sort of Pirating website instead as a informative blog!

iCloud – Wow!

The last thing announced at Apple’s WWDC’11 was iCloud, and it really lives up the saying ‘Save the best till last’. iCloud is awesome, and its awesome because you can store content on iCloud, and it will then push that content to all of your Apple devices. iCloud does all this, without any effort.

“iCloud is capable of storing your music, photos, apps, calendars, documents and more!! Once the content is stored, iCloud will wirelessly push them to all your devices – Automatically.”

So iCloud is a simple version of Mobile Me?

No-  When you sign up for iCloud, you’ll be able to keep your MobileMe email address and move your mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service. But obviously, you are going to loose the other benefits of Mobile Me – Gallery, Find My iPhone/iPad etc.  And the main difference, iCloud is FREE!!!

As always, Apple have not set a date in stone for the release of the iCloud, but on the website it does say the end of this fall. So iCloud will be in full swing in 2012!

iOS 5 – 200+ Features

Yesterday at the WWDC ’11 Apple confirmed the release of iOS 5. It boasts over 200 brand new features. For me, the best part of it is the Notification centre, iMessage and  PC Free. Read below for the descriptions wrote by Apple themselves.

Notification centre

You get all kinds of notifications on your iOS device: new email, texts, friend requests, and more. With Notification Center, you can keep track of them all in one convenient location. Just swipe down from the top of any screen to enter Notification Center. Choose which notifications you want to see. Even see a stock ticker and the current weather. New notifications appear briefly at the top of your screen, without interrupting what you’re doing. And the Lock screen displays notifications so you can act on them with just a swipe. Notification Center is the best way to stay on top of your life’s breaking news.

iMessage

Something that is of interest is iMessage, it appears Apple have stolen the idea behind BBM(BlackBerry Messenger) and made it into something better. Its a way of communicating to any iOS 5 device over a WiFI or 3G Network. So for example, i could send ‘Steve’ a iMessage on my iPad and ‘Steve’ can reply using his iPhone. iMessage brings communicating to a whole new level as it keeps all ‘i’ devices connected together.

Reminders

Next time you think to yourself, “Don’t forget to…,” just pull out your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and jot it down. Reminders lets you organize your life in to-do lists — complete with due dates and locations. Say you need to remember to pick up milk during your next grocery trip. Since Reminders can be location based, you’ll get an alert as soon as you pull into the supermarket parking lot. Reminders also works with iCal, Outlook, and iCloud, so changes you make update automatically on all your devices and calendars.

Camera

Since your iPhone is always with you, it’s often the best way to capture those unexpected moments. That’s why you’ll love the new camera features in iOS 5. You can open the Camera app right from the Lock screen. Use grid lines, pinch-to-zoom gestures, and single-tap focus and exposure locks to compose a picture on the fly. Then press the volume-up button to snap your photo in the nick of time. If you have Photo Stream enabled in iCloud, your photos automatically download to all your other devices.

PC Free

With iOS 5, you no longer need a computer to own an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Activate and set up your device wirelessly, right out of the box. Download free iOS software updates directly on your device. Do more with your apps — like editing your photos or adding new email folders — on your device, without the need for a Mac or PC. And back up and restore your device automatically using iCloud.

OS X Lion – its begun.

Finally Apple seem to have finalised plans to release Lion within the next few months. Having watched the keynote, it does look pretty awesome with some really beneficial features. Mulittouch gestures, Mission control and Full screen apps appear to be the biggest features of Lion. Although Apple have not yet actually set a release date, i am pretty confident that within the next few months it should be available. Another amazing thing about Lion is the price £20.99. #Watchthisspace

“People have been doing the same things on computers for years. Clicking. Scrolling. Installing. Saving. With OS X Lion, we’ve challenged the accepted way of doing things by introducing new features that change the way you use a computer.”

Website in production

So, im currently in the middle of trying to develop this site.. I have little experience with word-press – #BareWithMe!
